New icon...isn't James prettyful?
Ah, summer's here and I'm trying to make changes all around. Granted these changes usually start with my aim profile and my lj info, but still. I'm just...bored. With everything. I'm sick of being home already. I really want to go back to school. There's honestly very little for me at home. Even my best friend is starting to get on my nerves. That never happens. I'm ready for band camp (yes I'm a dork) to start. I've never felt like this before. Two weeks ago I was all over the place. I went from CT one day to Long Island the next, home to work, then to NY for a graduation party for one of my Betas, then to CT to hang out with some more Betas...it's insane. I'll do anything to get away from here. I hate my job more than I ever thought possible, I hate that I don't have air conditioning in my room, I hate that I have to share said room with my sister. This going away to college stuff really screws you up. Not that this won't be my fourth and final ack!) year, but I really didn't notice how much I disliked coming home until this summer.
That's all the negativity I can handle for now. |

I hate my life right now. I hate putting myself out there and getting nothing in return. I hate change. I wanna curl up in my bed and stay there forever with no interaction with anyone and that way I won't have to deal with anything.
On a happier note...I changed the colors of my layout and my default icon. I'm kinda proud of the icon. I like the font, I like Nathan....I love that I used Taking Backk Sunday lyrics.

So I've decided that it's my turn to rant about OTH. I don't even know where I'm going with this so just bare with me please...
From the beginning, N/H intrigued me. I loved everything about their initial relationship, from the tutoring to the first kiss, to WAO...everything was stellar. As season one went on, though, something started to irk me. It really seemed to me that Haley was the giver in the relationship. The thing that bothered me probably started when Dan and Deb started talking about divorcing and all that, which was also in WAO, but that's not when this giver thing became really apparent to me. It was probably in the episodes after that hiatus. These were the episodes where Haley was saying things like, "Knowledge is power." She was always helping Nathan out with his parents and whatnot and I really wasn't feeling much from his side. I know some of you are going to say that I'm nuts, but it's practically 3 am and I just need to ramble. I would really get annoyed sometimes that there was not much reciprocation of 'giving.' I don't know, I guess I just wasn't feeling the love coming from Nathan's side. Does this mean that I didn't like them as a couple? No. I just feel that there could've been other ways that my favorite couple could've been written. And then, after the second hiatus, I started feeling N's side a little more. He said ILY first, which surprised the heck out of me. When the finale came along, I didn't know what to expect. Mark blew me out of the water with the marriage and I really sat on the fence about it over the summer. I couldn't put my finger on whether it was going to be a good thing or a bad thing. Would I have liked to see a normal teenage storyline play out with these two and have them dating for much much longer? Yes. Was I happy with the surprise at the end of TGTPU? Yes. It did everything a finale cliffhanger should've done. One of the things that concerned me about the marriage was the fact that N/H have always lacked good communication skills. When Haley gets upset, she runs away from her problems. We saw this best when Luke was in the accident. When Nathan has an issue, he gets defensive and indignant. We saw this in the porn ep. This was something that I knew that they would have to work on in the second season.
So we come into the second season and I start to see the reverse of what happened in the first. I saw Nathan being the giver much more than Haley. He was really trying to make sure that Haley had everything that he could offer her. The was very evident to me when he gave her the keyboard, when he sent Peyton her mp3, when he set everything up for the formal...After seeing all these sweet things that he did for her, to watch her up and leave him to pursue her music was torturous for me. I know that it's a once in a lifetime thing, and I get why she felt that she had to leave, but it still hurt. I'm way too emotionally invested in this couple. Not being able to see her thoughts and her side of this experience, it is really hard to sympathize with her. I'm hoping that when OTH comes back (next week!!!) that we get to see what the hell she's been thinking through all of this.
